Bodoruddin's vision is restored after cataract surgery.

Md. Bodoruddin, 75 years old man, was living in Chandrabash village under Chuadanga District. He used to earn his livelihood by working as a day- laborer.  Bodoruddin had wife and four daughters in his family and he was the only bread earner for his family.

Even at the age of 75, Bodoruddin was strong enough to work as a day laborer. His work was seasonal.  He used to earn Tk. 75 per day by working in different construction sites. The whole family of Bodoruddin was dependant on this meager amount of money for their livelihood. One day while working, he felt that his vision is not as good as it used to be earlier. But he did not pay much attention to it. One day he stumbled down while   climbing a ladder with a basket filled with brickbats on

his head. He sustained a minor injury in his body. He was confined to bed for four days until he completely recovered from physical injury. He was absent from work for four days. After recovery from minor physical injury he could not go back to his job   as dimness of vision in both of his eyes continued.

As he was absent from work for four days, his family started starving. The entire family of Bodoruddin started passing days through hunger and poverty. One day in the village market, he met Ramjan Ali, his childhood friend who had eye operation on both his eyes at Impact’ hospital in Chuadanga.   Bodoruddin came to know from his friend Ramjan Ali that he can see the doctor in a satellite clinic not far from his house, which is organized, by Impact Chuadanga hospital. His friend Ramjan also assured him that he was almost blind but after operation, he can see everything now. He also told him that, “ IMCHC is very good hospital where the poor people can get treatment at a very low cost “. Inspired by his friend, Bodoruddin went to the satellite clinic where the eye doctor of IMCHC examined his both eyes and diagnosed it as cataract that needs to be corrected through surgery.

Upon hearing this, Bodoruddin became nervous. Instantly, he was assured by the doctor that he can avail the services free of cost at Impact Chuadanga hospital which is located in Chuadanga district town.  Bodoruddin was given a date to come to Impact’s hospital for cataract operation.  He took admission on the given date. His surgery fee was totally waived. Surgery was done on his right as it was worse that the left one.  Next day, soon after the dressing was removed from his operated right eye, he could see everything with his right eye. His joy knew no bounds. He raised his hands and prayed to the God “May Allah bless each and everybody of this hospital. My vision was restored because of them “.

Now Bodoruddin is back to his profession. He recalls with deep appreciation the efforts of the staff of Impact Chuadanga hospital that helped him to see again.  He always says “A poor man like me could never regain his vision, if IMCHC was not here “
